So here we have our handle and now it is dry enough to be put on to the pitcher as you can see here it flexes nicely without breaking. Now how we attach this handle to a pitcher is through a method called slipping and scoring and scoring is simply scoring the clay like this. It is fairly self explanatory. I am going to do cross hatching and simply score the clay. Slipping is a process of well essentially slip is like a glue for your clay so we want to make some up and what we do is we take some left over clay that we have sitting on the table here, any left over clay that you have that is clean sitting around your studio and we take some water and simply add it in like that. Now we want to take a fork and mash this up, get it nice and mashed up and covered in water and then we want to let it sit for a while. After we let it sit we are going to mix it and as we mix it we will eventually get a substance like this which looks a bit like chocolate pudding. Now it is very important to have a good slip and if you are doing a lot of work you might want to mix up a big bucket of it before hand and keep it covered so that you always have some good slip on hand. So now I have showed you how to mix up your slip and what we are going to do now is actually attach the handle on to this pitcher and I am going to show you how to do that next.
