At this point we are going to start defining areas in this painting. So we will start with taking some violet in some areas that need to be separated from the background to make it look correct. Now an important thing is working and sometimes it takes a second brush to soften areas that we put in with one brush. So we are in the process of defining all these outside areas of the rose. We have to blend those with the background so they don't look like something happened there. Now we are going to take dark green and add a little bit of rose to it and that is going to form sort of a grayish green and we are going to define some of these outlines of the leaves. I am just crudely putting it on there right now to some of the areas that I want. Then we go back with a bigger brush and a little bit of water and I am going to work the areas so that they define parts of the leaves. You notice this is aggradations so it shows the bottom of the leaf and then it blends out to nothing. I am forming another gradation here with this gray tone so you see the leaves are starting to get defined more precisely so we are laying in the color with one brush and then manipulating the color with another.
