Automotive Carpet Replacement: Install Backrest

"Okay, in this segment we're going to cover installing the backrest portions of the back seat. All you're going to need is a just two separate pieces for the backrest, and two of these kind of horseshoe or clip shaped spacers about a half an inch wide. So what we need to do to install them is you take the inside male pin, or the outside of the car actually. Oops, let me get a better angle, there you go. If you lay it down this way you can see the pin go right into the plastic insert there. Push it all the way down, and that'll give you enough clearance to slide this side in. Once you get the pin lined up, slide it back towards that side, and then you install the spacer on your side that you just started with, and clip it onto that shaft. And it should just snap down--oops, almost. Accessibility is kind of hard. If you need to use a pair of pliers or something to get to it. There we go. Now see that prevents the seat from sliding back or forth, thus locking it into place. Then we just push it all the way back and snap it into position--the seatbelt over. That's all it takes to actually install a seat. And if you remember, we need to put down the carpet, line up all the push pins, go all the way around and fasten the carpet to the back of the seat. Then we'll just repeat the same situation on the other side, sliding it to the outside first, then back onto the female portion of it, and then installing the clip.
