Want to enhance the interior of a car? A new carpet is the best way to give an automobile a brand new feel on the inside. Sure it might take some work. But this simple car maintenance task can go a long way to increasing a car's value and instilling ownership pride. In this free video series, let a certified master mechanic provide automotive maintenance tips for replacing automotive carpet. First, he explains when it's time to replace automotive carpet, safety tips and what tools are needed. Next, he starts the disassembling process one part at a time. Beginning with the front and back seats, backrests, seat belt latches, door panels, center console, computer and the old carpet itself. It's time to repeat the process in backwards order by installing the new carpet and reinserting everything else.
"Hello, my name is Mark Blocker. In this training series, we're going to cover automotive interiors. Specifically, we'll be replacing the carpet of automotive interior. We're going to be working on a eighty-nine model Acura, four door, hatchback, an Integra. And, as vehicles get older, this one's almost twenty years old now, and the carpet and interior just really reflects the wear, especially in an environment where you got a lot of snow and inclement weather during the winter time. And, one of the quickest ways to increase the value of a car, and to bring back new life to it, is to do a good thorough detailing of the interior. And, in this case, it really requires the replacement of a carpet. And, since they have the pre-molded carpets readily available, and matching color schemes for automotive now. It's not a real complicated task. It's just one you have to pay attention to detail. It'll probably be about a four hour project to replace the carpet. But some of the other issues that you might want to think about, in doing this job, you're going to have a lot of your interior removed at the time, it would be an excellent opportunity to detail all the upholstery, and a lot of the plastic components and covers will be off at that time. And, it makes them a lot easier to detail and clean them up, and do a good thorough job. So, in this training series, we're going to cover the actual replacement of the carpet.
