"Alright, let's try develope to the back. Now whenever you move anything to the back, whether you are in a standing position for pilates, or you are lying down it's very difficult to remain engaged. If you were to think of dividing your body in half right through the center, whenever one leg crosses that halfway point, the tendency is to let the intercostal muscles release the ribs out and then of course you're not engaged. It's not pilates if you are doing it like that. So you need to stay engaged the whole time. You can either remain squared with the legs, with one leg coming up, knee forward and then extending to the back and straight to close. Or if you've been doing this a while and you understand how to do the rotation and turnout, you can do a turnout in the same movement. So you'll be opening the leg out, toe comes up to the knee, make sure you are still engaged on those ribs as you bring the leg to the back, extending and bring it to a close. Try to stay eight for one leg or ten to one leg before you switch to the other side. Again watch the mid line, stay engaged, lengthen the spine. And that's how you do your develope to the back."
