"Alright and now we're going to do a develope. Develope has a background in dance. You're not doing ballet but we're going to use the develope to help you with your pilate's core. Remember to always set up the core with the big inhale, exhale, sorry I have to do it every time. Holding, engage. One leg is going to move. It's going to be a pointed toe and it's going to trace the inside of one leg just to below the knee and then extend forward. As the leg extends forward, I want to focus on lengthening my spine and not collapsing, it's not about height, it's about lengthening the leg. Like you would a bow and arrow, lengthening the leg from where it's attached at the hip flexor. So with my arms by my sides, and keeping my leg, knee and toe forward, I'm going to bring it up to just below the knee and extend it and as I extend going nice and tall, keeping it straight lowering it to the floor. Now whenever you lift your leg off the floor, you are using your core to help you balance. You will be feeling it mostly on the same side as the foot that's doing the work, you will feel it through the oblique, through the center and through the back. Keeping your arms and shoulders relaxed, don't go higher then the knee with the point of the toe, extend, lengthen, stay engaged, stay straight with the leg and straight all the way to the floor. And that's how you do a basic develope."
