Video Transcript

"An important part of Chinese medicine is the exercise branch of therapy. And so, in Chinese medicine we use two forms of exercise therapy. One is Tai Chi, which some of you may be familiar from some of the drug commercials where there's very gentle movement and you see large groups of people; and the other one is Qigong. Qigong is chi exercise and we use that to really build our energy and it's more similar almost to a standing yoga. There's many, many different forms of both Tai Chi and Qigong, all of which are good and beneficial when taught by a qualified instructor. Tai Chi is actually a martial art and so it's often times performed in conjunction with Kung Fu or other martial arts where Tai Chi is strictly an exercise, and has been developed over the years to enhance health and tonify and build the energy of the chi. There's been many types of Tai Chi or Quigong that are used specifically for healing and health. In general, it's thought of as a great exercise to do every single morning in order to start your day, build your energy and continue to move and nourish your chi with your body. So, I'm going to take a few moments to show you some basic exercises of both Tai Chi and Qigong in the following episodes."
