"In this segment we are going to look at a Twe-Na technique known as pulling. So a lot of times in the western medicine or western massage we think of it as traction. So this is a form of manual traction. A lot of times when we have somebody who's had some trauma they have a lot of tension in their joints and the muscles are very tight. So I'm not pulling very hard, I'm just very gently applying some pressure outward in a normal direction. And making sure that it's not uncomfortable for the patient and we can do that in a number of different areas. We can also, since she had a trauma to her neck years ago, we can gently pull and elongate the spine in her cervical spine. And actually I'm working some acupuncture in the back of her skull at the same time. And we can just allow when we get tension in joints it blocks the chi flow and we can get pain and illness in a particular area. So as we start to stretch it out by pulling gently on the different limbs, we can get a little bit better chi flow as we go. So that's the pulling technique."
