"Hi, this is Gerard Mainardi. Today we're talking about how to organize your My Documents in Windows XP. Remember, Windows XP is a trademark of the Microsoft Corporation, and I'm in no way affiliated with Microsoft Corporation. Now lets go back into My Documents just like before. Lets start. Go to My Documents. This will pull up My Documents on your screen here. Now what I want to talk about right now is just, the use of sub-folders to keep things very tightly organized. Some people like to throw everything in one big folder (maybe Halloween pictures, something like that). We can take a look here in My Pictures for an example of this. If we go into 'Halloween 2007', I've created two sub-folders here: one called 'good' ; one called 'the rest'. This just helps me do things like separate all my good pictures from stuff that I think is somewhat mediocre. Making as many sub-folders as you can is a really good way to keep things very organized. Just like before, like we showed: right click, go down to 'new', say 'folder'. Here's another new folder to hold whatever we need. Now in some cases, you're going to want to do things a little more tightly than that. For instance, if we go down here into My Videos, we can see that I created a 'temp' folder. If you're somebody who does a lot of work, this is a good thing to do. Here you can see all of my temporary projects that I'm working on. I keep everything in a temp folder. It's a good place to keep things organized when you're working on a lot of things at once. I usually have five or six projects going on. I have a folder for my programming projects, that I keep about 40 different things at once. Each thing has its own sub-folder. But when you're working on a lot of things, especially if you're a working professional, this will really help you keep your stuff straight, as well as keeping the file name conventions very standard inside."
