"I've shown you how to make the fire. I've showed you how to get the bird's nest going so now one of the most important steps is creating the proper fire, the formation of the fire itself, the wood pile. Here is the first set of sticks we want to use. You want to use almost a pencil size. Maybe even smaller. You want to use this wood to start to form almost like a tee pee and I'm going to explain a tee pee in a second and why it is formed the way it is. So we want to get these small sticks almost crisscrossing to a cone like formation so we want to break some of these up. You can see the way I'm going around this, breaking these up. I need to create an open pocket here so this is going to be where my open pocket is, where I'm going to be able to put the bird's nest, the thing that I just lit. We are going to be able to shove it in here and create the fire but first let's get these little sticks going here. Make sure when you grab any sticks for any of this fire, make sure the wood that you gather is either still on the trees that is dying, above ground, or away from the creeks. You don't want to pick up tones of wet wood to make this, to start this fire out. So a key thing to remember about high ground, dry brush, and you can even pull off dead branches off the trees like we have some oaks over here which burn really well that I just pulled right off the tree that have been dead for a while and they are ready to go."
