"For some babies, movement can be very helpful in helping to soothe them to give them something new to feel. If they've been sitting around or laying around for a long time during the day or even if you've just been holding them, which is absolutely great if you've just been holding them, they might need a little bit more stimulation, a little bit something different. So you might try if you're holding them, even just picking them up a little bit, making sure they feel secure, you might even sway, you could sway a little bit forward, babies like motion, they like movement. So you might sway a little forward, you could also just sway to the side. Try different types of movements, swaying different directions, seeing how they feel, making sure the whole time baby is supported and feeling close to you and connected. You can definitely try that, and for some babies, they like a little bit of a bounce. So holding your baby nice and secure so they feel close to you, being careful that his head is not shaking too much, we could bounce just a little bit. Just simply bounce. It looks silly, kind of feels a little bit silly, but your baby might like it, so just a little bit of a bounce. If you have an exercise ball, you could even help, hold your baby securely on the exercise ball and help bounce together. You can sit on the exercise ball and bounce with your baby, or you can even support your baby once they've had full back and neck and head control, where they can support themselves a little bit. Even though you're going to help them; you can help support them on the ball and give them a little bit of a bounce. Babies definitely like movement, so it's something to try."
