"Another kind of grab that you might have in a self defense situation would be a cross body grab. If you're grabbed across the body there's a couple things that you can do, one is you can do a duck and twist. You're going to open the door, duck underneath, and twist out of it. Being just a little bit different than same side grab. Or you can go over the thumb, and this would require you to up and over the thumb. Here she has the four fingers and she's a lot stronger at this point. So what I'm going to do is I'm going to rotate my arm up and over the thumb. The rotation gives it a little bit of torque, makes it more difficult for her to hang on. And I'm also going to be stepping off to the side, which is going take me away from the threat, I'm going to go over the top. I'm going to grab Elora, she's going to demonstrate, over the top. My hand is turned in such a way where it just opens up my hand, it's difficult to hang on. Again... alright, and now let's do the duck and twist one more time. Open the door, duck and twist and swing it down. On the duck and twist you can go to either side that you're comfortable with, you can either go this direction or you can go this direction. Let's try going this way now. See now that makes me even more uncomfortable and it's difficult for me to hang on. So when an attacker grabs you from the front you can either do the thumb escape, going over the thumb, or you can do a duck and twist. Open the door, duck and get out that direction. So from a frontal attack, you can have a couple different options to keep yourself safe."
