Splatter Painting a Snowscape

Ok. Next we're going to splatter. So we need a splatter shield to protect the rest of the painting. So basically a splatter shield, you can just take a piece of paper, fold it in half, tear a ragged pattern in it like so and put it over the paper like this. Then you load your brush. Let's see what colors we want to do. Let's do burnt sienna. So we're going to take an old toothbrush and we're going to splatter this. Get a little water in there. Make it work, but you don't want to use too much water. The more water you use the more transparent it's going to be. We want these to be rather, rather thick and dense. So you need to turn it so that it won't form an edge if you do it a lot. So you'll hit some with three or four strokes and some with a couple of strokes. Let's remove some of the paint. Oh now we've got more water on it and we've got different sized droplets. That's good. That works too.
