Jewel Belly Dancing Move

"Let's try a folkloric move called the Jewel. Now there's many different variations of this movement and different ways to accent the direction of the hip. But we're just going to stick to this one for right now. It's going to combine both a horizontal crescent move with the hip twist and a little bit of the little stomach pull. So there's a few thing, elements that make up this movement. Let me show you what it looks like and then we'll break it down. So we're going to arc and pull. So our feet are not going to go pass the width of our hips. And we're going to make sure that when we do this arc here that we bend the knees in the front so we don't put any pressure on our lower back. So we're going to first start by arcing front, twisting the hip and pulling in which will free this foot to go back the other direction, around, back and front, back and front. So we're going to take weight as we bring that foot around with a little twist. Front and around, around, front, back, back in front and around, back in front, around. Very good. Practice that in the mirror, it takes a little bit more work to do this one, it's a more advanced move, so be patient."
