"The important thing to do when you're working with your dog, is to understand that you want to make it simple for your dog. Saying a command or instruction one time, using the same word to mean the same thing each time, is going to help make it easier and less confusing for the dogs. I hear many times people say that their dog is stubborn, or that it's a slow learner. Usually that's not the case. It's just the dog that really is not understanding, what it is you're asking of them, so when you have a dog that you're starting to wonder if he's a little dumb, maybe he's a little confused instead, so back up and consider that. It will make you less frustrated, and it will keep that time with you spend on your dog, a lot more enjoyable, so it's one time, if it doesn't happen, make it happen, and that can go for your dog having to sit, or if your dog doesn't come, you must go get him and bring him to you, and keep that smile on your face, and that relaxed posture, because the dog will pick up on that, and he will react by heading in the opposite direction."
