"There are sometimes that we might have a behavior, that we like to see in our dog. For example, when we first get home from work, and you had a long, hard day, what's better than having your dog come up, and greet you with a big, sloppy kiss, jumping up on you. The problem with that, is it's not fair to the dog to sometimes be ok, and then sometimes not. It can be very confusing for them. We'll have children or maybe husbands that really enjoy that part of the day, so to please everyone, you're going to change the whole look of the jump up. We're going to come down on one knee, and I'm going to call it my hug, so Sadie, hug, and she can come up, and she could put a paw on either one of my shoulders, and this can be my hug, good girl, and this way everybody is happy. The dog is not getting confused or reprimanded, for one time practicing behavior that's ok, and another time where it's not ok, so practice your hug. Give the instructions to children and husbands, and all will be happy."
