Hi, my name is Dan Schmidt, from the Chinese Martial Arts Center. Today, we're going to be showing you how to properly perform a pressing block against the low punch, so when fighting, if somebody punches low. A good block is the pressing block, which you literally just press the hand downward to divert it from its target, so once again, so when he comes in, press straight down. Now what's important when doing this block, is you want to hit right with the palm of the hand, and you want to keep the fingers together. You don't want any gaps between your fingers, and you want to keep the thumb tucked. Doing this, it's very easy for a finger to get knocked or kicked, or grabbed, so you want to keep it nice and tight, so when he punches in. You want to slap it down this way, and press. See, this creates a line where I could just move straight in, and attack him. You could even use it while he's advancing, so one, then he comes in again. You can step back, two, and the same thing. I could follow up that way. Now when alone and practicing, you could start, hands on your waist. Press the palm down. Twist, then out with the other hand. Twist down, very simple. Twist, twist the waist, so once again, so he punches. Press, and he comes in again. Press down this way. That's the pressing block versus a low punch.
