Adobe Photoshop is the industry standard for photo editing today. It is a program that allows the user to be very hands on with images and manipulate the characteristics of the picture in whatever way they feel is suitable. It gives the user the ability to add specific features only available through the program to their images. Photoshop is also now being used to create images from scratch at a design level. The impact of this is that anyone with a computer is now able to design and create as they see fit. It is no longer reserved to the established and wealthy designers. In this free video series a Photoshop Expert, Robert Segundo, will show you how to create and manipulate sand text using Photoshop. Robert will begin by showing you how to create a sand-like background using various effects and color schemes. After balancing the color and using a few Photoshop tools in order to edit your background you'll be ready to begin adding effects to your text. You'll learn to use sand text effects, mosaic tile sliders, sandstone effects and text shadows in order to add dimension and texture. Robert will then navigate you through a few programs, such as Bevel and Emboss and the Horizontal Type Masking Tool in order to help make your textual image pop. Following Robert's instructions and watching these few short videos will quickly help you navigate Photoshop and create your own sand text.
"Now we're going to write some text in sand. And, to write text in sand, what we're going to need is, is we're going to need some sand. So, as you can see, I have my picture up here. It's a blank document. I'm just going to create some sand real quick, just some dirty sand. So, let's-let's actually find a sandy color here. Actually, you know what? First, yeah, you know what? Let's find a sandy color. Let's pick something. There we go. That's a nice sandish color. Now let's pick one that's close to the same. Choose that. Get something just a little bit lighter. There we go. Hit "Ok" on that. Now what we're going to do is, let's render some clouds here. Let's go to "Filter, Render." Let's render some clouds. And, as you can see, you really can't tell much of a difference here. But that's fine with me, because we want this to look like sand. Now, let's "Filter," let's render in some noise here. "Noise." Let's just do "Speckle" a bit. And that hasn't made much of a difference. But, as you can see, there has a little bit of texture here. Not a whole lot that you can tell, but this is good enough for me. So, I'm going to stop here, and we'll pick this up in the next part. We're actually going to start creating our text."
