Series Summary

The first weightlifting World Championship occurred in London on March 28th, 1891, but weightlifting traces back in history to the ancient Greeks and Egyptians where weightlifting was used to judge human strength. In the Twenty-First Century, weightlifting is as popular as ever, with many events in the Olympics and thousands of gyms all across the world filled with people who exercise for weight loss and strength training. There are many exercises for almost every muscle you can name, and a correct and an incorrect way to work out those muscles. One way to increase strength, agility and muscle tone at once is by doing exercises with a weight bar. In this free video series, an exercise physiologist will demonstrate a number of weight bar exercises to increase fitness, including pushups, military presses, biceps curls, power squats and lunges. With these strength training tips and techniques, any fitness buff won't have to go to the gym anymore to get a good workout.
