"One of the most convenient and handy tools to have as a firefighter is a good pair of working pliers. Now there are several types of pliers on the market. Linemen pliers can be used as a plier and as a side cutter for wire. Channel lock pliers and slip joint pliers are also very effective and convenient tools to have inside of the bunker gear. This set of channel lock pliers I've modified into a key tool which can be used to gain access when using forcible entry techniques that encompass through the lock techniques. The key tool is actually a separate tool that is sometimes carried on the apparatus and very difficult to find sometimes because of the size of it. I've modified the handle on this pair of channel lock pliers so it can be used as a key tool. The jaws of the pliers also very convenient to use as a regular set of pliers for removing bolts and nuts or whatever purpose we find the pliers to be used for. That key tool is an excellent device to get through any locked cylinder assembly that we pull out of a door, we can get in there with the key tool and flip the latch. Channel lock pliers very handy and convenient tool to have."
