Summary: The type of tea used in tea bags comes from the bottom part of the tea plant. Lean about the types of tea in tea bags with expert tips from a tea retailer in this free video.
"So, we know that most Americans drink tea in a bag, but do you know what is inside a tea bag, such as Lipton or Stash Tea? The teas used to make these bags have to be the lower ends teas in order for them to pay for the packaging and the advertising. If you know any plant on Earth, the upper part of it contains most of the nutrients and the health benefits. The lower part is whithering leaves that are ready to die and are basically dust and dirt that is not worth anything. So, what the tea bag company does is they take those tea leaves and they grind them up into small little particles and they put them in a tea bag. And, if you cut up, open, an empty tea bag, what you have is actually dust particles. Even if they tell you it is supposed to full leaf. But, if it is in a full leaf form, like this style or this style tea, they would not have enough room in the teabag to infuse with the water. This is the reason why they make it into very small particles. Now, not all tea bags are created equal. Some tea bag companies do a good job. Lipton however, I do not really like because the flavor is pretty flat, and it tastes the same all the time, and I am not getting the nutrients that I want to get from drinking tea."
