"Hi! Welcome back. My name is Megan Moe. And today I'm talking to you about gym germs and what you can do to best defend yourself. Now, one of the most important things, that you can do, when defending yourself against germs in the gym is gym selection. Now it may seem like a kind of, trivial thing but it's very important. Next time, you're working out why don't you try paying attention to the gym staff and see what they're doing? Are they cleaning regularly? Are they cleaning the Cardio equipment after people use it? And if they are, what are they using to clean? Do you see things like dirty towels, left behind by other people just sitting around, by themselves? Do you see, free standing water anywhere? All of these are bad signs. And it might be a sign, that you should pick a different gym. Another thing, that you want to pay attention to, when you're coming into a gym is that way it smells. Now this might be kind of, a strange concept for people to think about. Since working out is not usually related to the smelling great. But the truth is that sweat in itself is an odorless substance. And it's in fact the bacteria that feed off the protein in sweat. They give off, a waste product that's responsible for the odor that people think, is sweat. But it's actually the bacteria. So a strong odor might be evidence, that there's bacteria manifestation. And this is obviously, not a good thing. Now, I'm not saying this to mean that you should disregard a gym. On the basis of, there might be one or two patrons who don't smell that great after an hour of cardio. But it's more the general smell of the gym, that you should pay attention to. And when you come into a gym, it should be kind of, a neutral smell. And not overly harsh chemicals, not very cleanery. Because, that's not what you're looking for either. But just a nice neutral smell is really what you're looking for. O.k. When we come back, I'm going to tell you a little bit more about, what you can do to protect yourself at the gym."
