Ok now we need to get this into a closed dome. The way we're going to do that is just pull from the top, but lay it down very gently. You don't want it to fall in on itself, using your left hand to support the clay as you push it in and down with your right. This is going to take a couple of times to get it all the way together. You can't force it you just have to be patient, and each successive time you stretch the clay a little bit more and you push it more towards the center. It's not important that your dome be the actual shape that you need yet because once you've closed it off there's a bubble of air inside the dome and that will serve to support your dome while you ribbon the shape that you're looking for. Now I'm doing another method of collaring. I'm pinching and pulling, but I'm also collaring at the same time with the same hand. You need a little point so that you have something to push together, and now our dome is closed. Next we'll shape it.
