"Now that you have the right hand position down, it's that you know where your hand is going to be, I'm going to talk about if you were using a pick. Now again, this is a guitar pick. If you were using a pick that you would want to use for the ukulele, it would probably be made of felt and would be thicker than this, probably three times thicker and made of felt, so that it gives it a little bit of a softer sound, and not the attack that you get with a plastic pick, made for guitar strings. Now, the hold of the pick is the same. It's the same shape. Now, essentially, the way I hold a pick, you can hold it many different ways, but, the way I would hold it, is the thumb would go over the top of the pick to the back long side here, right into the middle. So that your fingernail fills up the whole pick. Now again, a pick for the ukulele will be bigger, so, it'll be slightly different, but you want to have that same kind of angle. Your first finger on the back side will come around to the other long side of the pick, roughly in the middle. So that way you can get a real strong hold on the pick when you strike the strings."
