"While we are waiting for our potatoes to boil we are going to go ahead and start on our vegetables. So we will turn our front burner here up to 7 and we will come over and we are going to fill this only about 1/4 of a way up and the reason why we are going to shallow for this for our vegetables is that we are actually going to steam them. We don't want to boil them so we are going to put our pot on here and then put a strainer inside. To give our vegetables a little bit more of a creamier flavor we are going to add a tablespoon of butter and then we are going to prepare our fresh vegetables so we are going to take our broccoli and we'll cut the end off and what we are looking for is little florets like that. We will continue to cut this stock and let it fall until we have these little pieces come off, cut it again and more little pieces should fall off and then once more so we'll separate to get our pieces somewhat uniform in size, we'll trim them. The reason why we want them uniform in size is that they will all cook at he same time that way and you won't get one piece that is really soggy and then a nice bigger piece which is all very crunchy. We are going to take a little bit of corn, a little bit of green beans, and an equal amount of peas and then I am going to put our broccoli right over the top and we are going to let this water come to a boil and you might want to stir it once or twice as it does come to a boil to make sure that it is steamed properly but I am leaving the broccoli on the top so that it steams last because these other items are frozen."
