Video Transcript

"This functional core exercise is the figure eight abdominals with the medicine ball. So you're just going to come on down and balance on your sits bones. Now what I'm going to do is baby-step you through this exercise. So we'll get the rhythm of the movement, then we'll add the medicine ball to really challenge ourselves. So when you lean back onto your sits bones, pick your feet up and then extend your legs out just a little bit, and even by doing this you're feeling those abs tighten up. So this is pretty intense in and of itself. Once you get comfortable with this position, start to scissor your legs. Uh-huh, I know you're feeling that. Now, once you get that down, grab your medicine ball -and I have a 4 lb. medicine ball, if you want to use something heavier or lighter, go for it- and you're just going to take that ball, figure eight through those legs and really feel those abs burn! Make sure you're breathing. Now, I don't know how long you can hold this, but I'm feeling pretty good right now so I'm going to do this for about a minute and when I get tired I'm going to rest and breathe and get some water. That's your figure eight medicine ball ab crunches."
