"Instead of using potentially crippling kicks and punches, an Aikido student learns a number of unique wrist locks in order to subdue and opponent. The wrist lock being demonstrated here is called Nikyo. It is the second in a series of Aikido wrist locks. Another basic wrist lock as being demonstrated here is called Kote gaeshi. Another basic wrist technique in Aikido is called Sankyo. This more aggressive wrist technique needs to be practice with some care. This technique called Shiho nage is a more dynamic Aikido wrist lock. This next wrist lock called Hiji Shigi is another dynamic and powerful wrist lock."
