"When you're doing weapons work, really think about- focus on the weapon of course, because that's obviously the most important thing, you want to make sure you don't get cut by it, but that will tend to slow you down enough to actually figure out the technique. So really focus on the weapon to slow yourself down. Alright? Why don't we all grab bokken, and we'll stretch out. And everybody has got grip, 3 fingers at the base, pinky is underneath, make sure you don't slip. Left hand is very, very tight and firm, a lot of muscle in there, you want to make sure this doesn't move. The other hand is just resting over the top, kind of focusing on direction, okay. Straight up, and down. Raise and slide back, step and cut. Okay."
