"This next technique is called skai komi. Essentially an attacker has come in, but I've somewhat scared him off, I've got to chase him down in order to make enough advance or assertion so that way I can finish the situation. So I'm going to be doing two cuts straight forward. Again, I'll demonstrate and then walk you through it. So again, the opponent is up front, he's coming towards me, I know I've got to do something. So first thing I'm going to do is draw and somewhat warn him off a little bit, so that way I've got enough room to attack. First, I start to lean a little bit, get my momentum so I can draw the blade. Starts out very, very slow, and I pick up speed, draw and come to this position. Then I do a cut to his forehead, take another step, then all the way down to the waste. From there I draw my right foot back, raising my sword straight overhead at about a forty-five degree angle. Should be back just a little bit. From here, I gently turn this hip forward. As I turn the hip, I lower the sword, bring it all the way down. My back knee touches, this comes to my front knee. From there, I switch my grip. So from a regular sword grip, I'm going to put the pinky forward. And then hold the sword. My other hand comes to the tsuba, I rotate. This is essentially--I'd have a piece of cloth or a piece of paper. I would then bring it here, and I'd use it to wipe the blade. Then I would put the sword away. Actually at this point, probably end up throwing the paper to the side with the blood on it, clean the blade, bring it here, do a noto using the back grip, okay, cover, cover, step back up, center the blade, center the tsuba on your belly button, and then walk back."
