"This next form is called yariyaki, it means eight forces or forces of eight. It really is a very powerful technique because we're rising and lowering. I'll demonstrate it and then walk through each of the pieces. This is very similar to seyzemi, the beginning is very similar. We do, we have an opponent up front, we first draw the sword trying to cut his blade. He then scoots back a little bit, so I need to chase him, step up, cut all the way down. Here I'm going to get rid of some of the blood, do a quick flick, chiburi, and then put the blade away. As I put the blade away, I come back up. As I'm coming up, he wakes up a little bit, comes back towards me, and tries to cut me in the ankle. I draw my sword, slap it down with the minai, the back of the blade, protecting my ankle. From here I go to my knee, slide, cut, and finish. Then I do a regular omoridue, wet umbrella, chiburi. Again, pause, make sure that he's not coming up, and put the blade away, noto, cover, come back to center, and walk back."
