"Baking soda is a great alternative to use when you're cleaning out your sink, especially stainless steel sinks. What you have to do is just sprinkle it over your sink, and scrub. And it actually polishes your stainless steel sink, and scrapes off anything that could be stuck to it. And just by adding water to it, all of the grime and grease is eliminated, and your sink is sparkling as well. When I had to do my counter tops in the past, I've used a very harsh chemical spray that I discovered that every time I used, within a few minutes I would have to use my inhaler because my asthma would be so bad. And it also makes me a little leery to use so many anti-bacterial products, because I believe that it is healthy to have some bacteria in your house so your immune system can actually build up a tolerance to them. Instead of using a harsh cleaner, I have just bought an all-purpose spray bottle, and in it I've put a cup of vinegar, and the rest is just plain tap water. This you just spray on your counter and just a wipe-up with a paper towel or a cloth. It eliminates odors and it gets the stains off your counters and keeps them nice and clean. It's a great thing to use. Vinegar is extremely cheap. For a giant gallon of vinegar it's a couple dollars, and it will last you a long time. Vinegar has another important use that I've discovered, that when you use it in your laundry, when you're doing your laundry for example if you are washing a load of clothes, if you put vinegar in your rinse cycle, it will soften your clothes, and it will take the residue of the detergent out of the clothing as well."
