"We're here in Northern Michigan today, talking about hunting, hunting with a shotgun. What we want to talk about today is what time of year that we're going to hunt. We're going to go back to our query, as that pretty much dictates what time of year we're going to hunt. There's various seasons for the various game that you're going to pursue. Right now, it's early April, here in Michigan, and turkey season is coming up on us. Turkey season is going to be a time when we're going to use our larger gauge shotguns and smaller chokes, fuller chokes. Generally speaker, however, Spring time is the exception for hunting with your shotgun. Normally speaking, we're going to be hunting in the Fall. Here in Michigan, small game season starts on September fifteenth. Predominately in Michigan, your shotguns are going to be used for small game hunting. It's been my experience, as far as time of day is concerned, that early morning and towards dusk, are when most game animals are out moving, looking for food and are the easiest to come upon. I say come upon because shotgunning is generally different than most types of hunting, in that, you're carrying your shotgun through the woods, walking through the woods, looking to jump or scare up the query that you're after, as opposed to hunting with rifles and bows and arrows, where you go out and sit and you wait for the game to come to you. From that perspective, shotgunning is an interesting way to hunt, in that, you get to cover a lot of ground, a lot of territory, and a lot of different things. A lot of nice stuff in the outdoors whether it's Spring time or Fall, especially here in the state of Michigan."
