"Once you've got your new distributor cap, you want to hold the new distributor cap in your hand and place the wires back exactly the way that they came off. So what you would do, you would take the new cap and set it back down into the distributor itself and then place your plug wires back into the same, you just hold it in your hand like so, then you would take the plug wires off and set them back onto the new distributor cap. Then what you want to do is make sure the distributor cap itself and the spot in the housing for the distributor has a divot in it to where you can make sure you have it in its proper place whenever you do put this back onto the distributor. And the same, the clips that you used to take it apart with, you clip those back onto its side and you make sure that you have them nice and snug to make sure that this does not get cancerous on one side, then you could have a problem with it messing up the rotor button inside of the distributor, or maybe breaking off one of the contact points inside, then your car would be running rough and you would have some issues with that. So that, in itself, is replacing the distributor cap."
