"In this clip we're going to talk about the proper service procedure for changing the transmission fluid in a standard transmission. In this step we're going to perform the actual filling procedure of our standard transmission and reinstall our fill plug. I'm going to go ahead and roll underneath the vehicle with one bottle of my fluid and my filling nipple. All right, I'm going to go ahead and slide my filling tube into the hole for my transmission and slide it in a decent ways, but don't get stuck. I'm going to go ahead and tip my bottle up and begin draining fluid into the transmission. Give a little squeeze on the bottle just to speed up the process. You're going to want to refer to your owner's manual or parts professional for the fill capacity of your standard transmission. This vehicle, in particular, takes two and four-fifths of quarts. It'll also be filled up all the way to the bottom of the drain plug. The reason why they list you the fill capacity is, you know how much fluid to get at the parts store prior to your transmission service. If you were to drain all the fluid out of your vehicle and have it be your only car and not have enough to fill it back up, you'll end up walking to the parts store. Once you have all the fluid drained from one quart, you're going to go ahead and remove the quart out, switch your filling nipple to another bottle, and repeat the procedure until you've reached the correct capacity. That is the proper way to fill your transmission."
