"Now we are going to work on teaching your horse to tie. First we are going to start by using a lunge line and notice that this lunge line doesn't have a chain. It is important that we don't use a chain when we tie. The best thing to have is a nice big eye hook that we can run the lunge line through. And so what we'll do is we'll run it through the big eye hook and clip it to the bottom of your horse's halter. This allows us to really give and take so if your horse gets nervous you let the lunge line get longer so that they can get away from the wall and as the horse gets more accustomed to the idea of tying you can be a little bit more rigid about holding it still, so it is more like actually being tied. You can also with the lunge line leave the stall which makes it more true to what it is like to being tied. Once your horse seems comfortable with the idea you are ready to move on to using the real lead."
