"Now I'm going to play the entire upper octave (flute sound). That was the whole upper octave. The highest D can be played two ways: it can be played holes totally open (flute sound) or holes totally closed (flute sound); same note (flute sound). The only difference is with the holes closed you can get a softer sound and you have more control over the pitch (flute sound). So it is really easier and better to play the highest octave D with all the holes closed. And once again, you can also open the back hole just a little bit to make it a little bit easier (flute sound). That was the highest octave D."
