"In this series we're going to talk about some things women can do to keep themselves safe while traveling or when they're out and abroad. When it comes to being car jacked, you know, you're going to be under a lot of pressure, you're going to be very scared, you don't want to do anything that's going to excite them. So don't stare at them excessively, don't stare at the gun, just do what they say. Car jackings are very personal and up close crimes so the identification problem is you're going to know who they are. They're going to be nervous about it. Just try to be as compliant as possible to minimize their chance of getting overly excited and hurting you. Some verbage you might want to express when you're working with an armed gunman is things like, 'It's okay, the car's yours, here you go, the keys are in it'. Make it as easy as possible for them to get the vehicle so they don't have to worry about drawing more attention or putting you in harms way. Again this is with an armed gunman, this is something, you don't want to be around this person any longer than necessary. So if I walk up to the car and I tell her, "Give me the car, give me the car right now, right now, open the door!' She's going to tell me everything I need to know. 'You can have the car, the keys are in it!' Okay, and she, as a car jacker, I'm more interested in the car than I am her so she can make space and get away from it, she's going to increase her chance of being safe many fold. "
