"In this series, we're going to talk about some things women can do to keep themselves safe while traveling or when they're out and abroad. Some of the common things guys will do to attack a female, one of the most common scenarios that I've seen in my history is they'll pretend to be maybe injured and ask for help. If you're a female traveling by yourself you don't need to be approaching anybody that's a stranger for help, they can take care of themselves, or they have a caretaker, especially if that person is a male. The biggest thing that I've seen in my experience as well is alcohol. If you can avoid being under the influence of alcohol or other drugs you're going to save yourself a lot of problems when dealing with self defense situations. In order to make this situation safer you want to avoid being in places where alcohol is being consumed. Things like bars, night clubs, maybe house parties, things of that nature. Especially if you're not familiar with the area or not familiar with the crowd that you're traveling with. Another problem that manifests itself is date rape drugs and this, it happens when somebody spikes the drink that you're drinking with a GHB, rohypnol, other substances that take the person out of consciousness or take away their ability to say no or maybe even lose consciousness altogether. So, never, ever, ever leave your drink unattended. Even if you have to use the restroom, take it with you, make sure you have a close friend watching it. If you're traveling alone, never leave your drink. "
