How to Remove Radiator Mounting Brackets

"In this clip we're going to talk about the proper way to remove and replace an electronic cooling fan. In this step we're going to talk about some of the service procedures required to remove the radiator mounting brackets, and some remote reservoirs that may be attached to your cooling fan. Have some nuts and bolts here, here, here, and on the other side right here. They're going to all be lefty loosie, right tighty. Take my ten millimeter socket and slip it on there, and undo the bolt. The service procedure is going to vary a decent amount from vehicle to vehicle. However if you follow these methods, you're going to be sure not to damage anything trying to manipulate your cooling fan out, and yanking out of a place that you don't have enough room to get it out of. As you can see I have a nut stuck in my socket, so what I'll do is screw it back down on the stud slightly and wiggle my socket off, and continue taking it off by hand, and set it on the tray. Put that in the tray. As you can see we have some wiring clips pushed through the bottom of this bracket, now you're not going to want to just tear them apart. There's a reason why those clips are there. It's to keep this wiring harness from jiggling around as you drive the vehicle. You're gong to take and compress the locking tabs and push them down. You may have to work back and forth to get them to wiggle out the right way. That's the proper way to remove the bracket on this side. Going to go ahead and remove the bracket on the other side. It's going to take a thirteen millimeter socket, these are the upper mounts for your radiator. I'll get you a close look at one here as soon as I have it in my hand. We're going to take the upper mount loose to give us some play in order to wiggle it around and get access to the mounting bolts on the cooling fan. Put that in the tray, slide it up and off the ear of the radiator, and as you can see this is the mounting bracket. Your radiator will have this either on the top or the bottom, or both. And you can see how it's a rubber device, what that does is allow the radiator stud to sit inside there and not bolt down tight. That extra play there will help your radiator from being damaged if you hit a deer or have any kind of accident like that. It also deadens engine vibration so the radiator isn't rattle apart while you're driving. This is the proper service procedure for removing the upper brackets on your radiator."
