"Hi I'm Jeremy Blackwell, I'm here today to help you get started on your basement remodel project. The insulation is a project that's very simple and and something I would actually suggest for a homeowner to try to do themselves. In this home here we would have to insulate the walls. It has insulation right now in the ceiling and that can be left there for sound proofing, but once we insulate the walls, it really won't serve any kind, any other purpose than that. The only other thing that you'd want to think about when insulating is the level of material that you want to put into the home. An R 11 in this area is usually adequate. Some people move up to an R 13. Any insulation that you use above an R 11 is going to be more than adequate to insulate your home. The R value of an insulation is it's rating. Here in the inter mountain west, R 11 is usually okay to put in the basement and that is usually sufficient to insulate the basement. Some people move up to an R 13 and that depends on the size of the home and the area you live in. Anything above that would be very good insulation in your basement. "
