"Hi, I'm Jeremy Blackwell I'm here today to help you get started on your basement remodel project. This is a GFCI outlet that's required in bathrooms. The reason this is required is because if any water were to just drip on the outlet or if a hair dryer was plugged in that had a short in its chord, this outlet would immediately turn off. A lot of times when people try to finish their own basements, they forget out this and they put in a regular outlet which could be very harmful. Another thing when wiring these outlets, is that they must be wired a certain way, or any outlet that's plugged into this one after it, won't work correctly. This is another example of why to hire a licensed professional electrician when, when wiring your basement. Another licensed professional to think about hiring is the plumber. If you don't seal your joints correctly when you're doing your own plumbing inside of your basement it most probably will leak and cause a lot of damage. All the money you have invested into your basement will be ruined. One thing about laying out your basement bathroom is it's probably already stubbed up waiting to be finished out of the concrete. Most people think that this ties them into that one confined space for their bathroom, this isn't the case. If you're willing to spend a little bit more money, you can jack hammer out some of that concrete and move some of that plumbing to where you desire it. You just want to be careful that when you do do that if you decide to do that yourself, you want to be careful when you are jackhammering to to be careful of the existing pipes and when you, when you get to those pipes that you seal those properly and that is done properly, but once again I suggest hiring a licensed plumber to, to do this kind of work.
