"Hi, I'm Jeremy Blackwell. I'm here today to help you get started on your basement remodel project. In most cities, you'll be required to pull a permit, when finishing your basement. If you maintain open communications, with the city, they'll be able to help you with what you'll need to finish the project. Most of the time, if you're going from start to finish, to get your basement completely done, you'll need a permit. If you're just finishing one bedroom or doing a simple play area, for your children, you probably won't be required to pull a permit. You'll probably need to pull a permit whenever you're dealing with a licensed professional. A mechanical contractor, an electrician or a plummer. Anytime you're dealing, with any of those three categories, you need to be extremely careful with what you try to do, by yourself. If you try to do the plumbing by yourself and you don't seal things properly, you could have water leaking and damaging your whole entire basement. The same is true with electrical. If you don't know what you're doing with electrical, you could start your whole house on fire. These are traits that are better left to a licensed professional and whenever you call them, you will need to get a permit."
