"Odissi Dance as we know today is thanks to the revival that was done in the mid 50's, 1950's by the four main pillars of Odissi Dance. The four main gurus who came together in the 50's to revive Odissi as it had deteriorated and people were not aware of the dance form. So these four Gurus are Guru Kelu Charan Mahapatra, Guru Mahadev Rout, Guru Pankaj Charan Das and Guru Deba Prasad Das. These four men gurus have their own unique technique and style. I'm a student at the Guru Mahadev Rout School of Odissi Dance and I have been a student since, for the last thirty, over thirty years.
