"The hand movements in Flamenco are particularly beautiful and we think that their origins may have been from the dances of India as well as the Middle East. So, to start this exercise, I am going to ask everyone to clench their fists and break the wrists back so to speak. In this position, you are going to start to do a slow rotation, working the wrists all the way around. You notice, in the inside vuelta, or the inside turn, the wrists turn towards each other. And the reverse of this would be away, or afuera, from each other. Notice that the wrist is designed very nicely to move in either direction. Podemos afuera una vuelta al entro. We can do an inside and we can also do una vuelta afuera or, an outside turn. So, a simple starting exercise is working the wrists back and forth carefully and through. So that we start to develop dexterity and flexibility in the hands."
