"Another effect which is not similar to vibrato, it might sound similar when you are starting is bending the notes. You hear of bending happening a lot with guitar players and it is easy to do because with the strings in their hands, with their left hand after they have strummed the guitar or whatever, they can move their hands and create like a wa wa bending effect with their fingers. Similar with the saxophone. It is all ompisher with the bending; basically you are going to drop the jaw to bend the note down. Bending it up is a little harder because your ompisher should be pretty tight to go up is, you can make it go a little sharp but you have got a lot more play when you bend down. So just to give you an example I will just play a few notes and bend the last note. So there is a little bend with a little vibrato after it. It is also a dirty sounding kind of sound like if you were playing a raunchy sounding blues and that is what you are really shooting for in bending the note and it is real prevalent in blues or rock and roll sounds with saxophone you might hear it. So give it a try, don't overdo it though because that can be overdone."
