"Hi. I'm Dr. Joshua Vogel with Carolina OBGYN, a division of Wilmington Health Associates. And I'd like to talk to you today about causes of breast pain. There are many causes of breast pain. It is an extremely common symptom that most women experiences, and most women experience several times throughout their life, some with more or less frequency. Some of the more common causes of breast pain are simply your monthly cycling, or a common symptom of what's typically referred to as PMS, or premenstrual syndrome. If this is the case, it should occur on a monthly basis as your menses is approaching and should resolve in a similar time frame. Another very common cause of breast pain is commonly referred to as fibrocystic breast disease. Fibrocystic breast disease is not cancer and does not cause cancer. It is a very common symptom that does cause increased breast lumpiness, which can sometimes cause worrisome symptoms and concern for breast cancer, but once this diagnosis has been made, it is easy to option, excuse me, to manage. Very common recommendations that are made to help with reducing breast pain are reducing caffeine, drinking plenty of water, and getting plenty of exercise. This has been a discussion of common causes of breast pain."
