"Hi, I'm Dr. Joshua Vogel with Carolina Ob-Gyn, a division of Wilmington Health Associates. I'd like to talk to you today about preventing burning in the vaginal area. There are lots of causes of burning in the vaginal area; the most common would include yeast infections and bacterial vaginitis. Other equal, almost as common would include atrophy of the vaginal tissues primarily in the menopausal age group. Certainly other kinds of infections and STDs like herpes can typically cause this kind of symptoms. Another extremely common cause is simple eczema or dry skin. All of these causes are generally treatable. The critical thing is to figure out which one is causing your burning. So for this kind of a problem, I would advice that you have a visit with your doctor to identify the specific cause of your problem and should be able to get the road to effective treatment. This has been a discussion of preventing burning in the vaginal area."
