"HI, I'm Dr. Joshua Vogel with Carolina Ob-Gyn, a division of Wilmington Health Associates and I'd like to talk to you today about preventing yeast infections. Yeast infections are an extremely common illness that many women get throughout the course of life; but there are some simple steps that you can take to try to minimize this occurrence. Yeast infections most commonly occurs in warm, wet areas; so keeping your pelvic area clean and dry are certainly helpful. Douching is not advised as that will increase your risk of other types of vaginal infections. It is very appropriate to bathe with a sensitive skin soap. Really should not be using anything other than your hand; avoid the use of loofas, wash clothes or other scrubbing apparatus to wash your pelvic area. Avoid scents; scented products and many of the other things that women can buy to try to cover various odors or what have you. After your bath, it can often be helpful to dry gently, not only with a towel but with a blow dry or on low setting and sometimes helpful to apply an unscented moisturizing product or drying product if necessary. For the mos part, if you take these measures; avoid scented products in the area, wear white cotton underwear and keep your pelvis dry; you should do a very good job of avoiding yeas infections.
