"Hi, I'm Dr. Joshua Vogel with Carolina OBGYN, a division of Wilmington Health Associates and I'd like to talk to you today about remedies for yeast infection. This is obviously an extremely common problem and most women will face it at some time in their life. Common symptoms include a white vaginal discharge, a bad odor, and itching, sometimes progressing to burning or even pain. Generally it is quite easy to treat. For most patients, a simple trip to your pharmacy, select any of your choices of various over the counter medications and most of the time, will take care of it. Of course, if the systems persist, you would certainly want to have a visit to your doctor as it could be something other than a simple yeast infection. It could be a different infection like a bacterial vaginitis. It is potentially an STD that is unusual so, for most women having these simple symptoms, uncomplicated, and no other symptoms, certainly it is appropriate to try an over the counter remedy. If it does not seem to be improving or you have other complicating issues personal to yourself, then certainly visit your doctor for an evaluation. This has been a discussion of simple remedies for yeast infection."
