"Hello, I'm Dr. Miguel Rodriguez, I'm a gastroenterologist with Miami Gastroenterology Consultants in Miami, Florida. How do we get rid of heartburn? Heartburn is probably one of the most common symptoms that we experience, you know, after a heavy meal or if we drink some wine, if we have very spicy food. Essentially, common sense is, what we should try to use by not having very heavy meals late in the day or late at night. Decreasing the amount of spicy food, as well as certain age alcoholic beverages such as Red Wine, Rum or Whiskey. They're, they tend to promote the relaxation of the muscle that keeps things down into the stomach. If those things do not work, then you can always rely on over the counter antacids in the different formulations that are available, are commercially available."
